Oh my! Where has this month gone?!
Lots of activities and happenings across the district and in the state as the New Year kicks off and everyone feels motivated by the possibilities of a new calendar year.
Here are some of the activities I've been following and should have more information on in the coming weeks:
As parents, we need to work together across the whole spectrum of students' talent and abilities. It takes all of us, in partnership with others, to make learning a priority and fun for all children.
Let me hear from you as to news and/or concerns you may have as we start the second half of the school year.
I'll be posting again soon!

Here are some of the activities I've been following and should have more information on in the coming weeks:
- DE-PTA had a Training-the-Trainer event on January 7th for Common Core State Standards and overall advocacy training. They are now "rolling out" the presentation to many parent groups across the state. To request a Common Core State Standards presentation, go to their website to get the official request form - http://www.delawarepta.org/ .
- DDOE had a series of public, town hall meetings about the latest funding process with the Federal Gov't -- (Had to do with school classifications, ways schools are measured to receive funding & resources and all tying back to NCLB -- at least I think that was it) -- From a parent perspective, they use so much "educational jargon" that you can easily become confused as to "What this is going to do for my child's classroom and their studies". As more information comes available on this and I "digest" what it means to our district and our individual schools, I'll share with the blog group.
- BSD - Working with them on a variety of endeavors (more to come on this), but the community news is the upcoming Operating Referendum that was just presented to their School Board earlier this week. Updates should be posted by now on the district website. It is a good read as to how they are focused on all students and ways they plan on delivering value to stakeholders.
